Austrian Notgeld 1920-1921
Austria, as well as the surrounding countries of Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy
and Switzerland were all subject to the same economic chaos the wars brought forth. Most metals were scarce, at
least scarce enough to not commit any large quantity to projects like coin production, so 'paper coins' were created
to fill the immediate need for currency. During WWI and up through the year 1923, millions of Austrian Notgeld
